Investigators 'zeroing in' on Colorado wildfire start
Posted: 11:46 PM - Sheriff's officials say they have now recorded more than 500 homes leveled by the most destructive wildfire in Colorado history.
The great thing about forecasting a system like this is... well... there is nothing great about a system like this! LOL... It has been fun to try and get on the horse and ride, but soon I'll tip my hat and ride off into the snowstorm. Basically, there won't be much forecasting left and we'll just have to see if everything pans out the way I expect it to.
A winter storm watch has been issued for the higher elevations since my vlog earlier on Friday. It's out at this point for Bell, Harlan, Letcher, and Pike Counties starting Saturday night and running through Monday evening. The rest of east KY will likely go under some type of an advisory, watch, or warning at some point this weekend.
Here's the simple rundown for this system.

To answer many of your questions about "Heavy Wet" snow or "Light" snow.... When this system begins making the transition over to snow it will be the wet heavy snow. That won't last too long since the cold blast will really take things over and force this to become a much lighter snow. This snow is easily blown around and will reduce visibilities down to a 1/4 mile or perhaps even less. That's what that 30mph wind will do for you in this situation.
Temps drop and when you factor in winds like that you could be looking at single digit Wind Chill readings. Could even be lower at times!
I have decided to push the totals a little higher. Data is just looking a little more convincing. The higher-purple line means 10" or higher!

I will be back on here with updates as needed this weekend, and possibly right here at the station if the situation calls for it... and I'm thinking the situation will call for just that!
