Kentuckians look to help OK storm victims

I have learned a lot about my self here lately... I really enjoy writing winter weather blogs. They are soooo much fun because there is just about as much controversy surrounding winter predictions as there is running for a public office... LOL...
As most of us know... winter never really showed up here in eastern KY. That's ok because we will have plenty more exciting events coming our way. The next area of interest is a frosty night. That's the biggest game in town right now.
Both [the frost advisory and the freeze warning] are only issued during the growing season. A Frost Advisory is issued when the predicted temperature is expected to fall to 36 degrees or lower in the next 3 to 30 hours during the growing season. So temperatures 35 to 40 range would also dictate a frost advisory. A Freeze Warning is issued when there is an 80% or greater chance that the temperatures are expected to fall to 32 degrees or lower in the next 3 to 30 hours during the growing season. If the temperature is expected to fall below 28 degrees this is considered a Hard Freeze.
It looks like we'll see temps on Saturday morning dip around 32 or below for a while. This will set the stage for a good hard freeze here in our area. Many areas will just see some frost... but any will get down to those really cold levels.
