Light Snow Coming For Some

Posted: Thu 10:06 PM, Jan 27, 2011

Another system is rolling in from the northwest. I mentioned on Wednesday night it could bring some light accumulations to parts of our region.

The olny active advisory in our area is out for the folks in Lawrence County. It is set to expire at 10am on Friday. The bulk of the heavier snow could fall in that area and into West Virginia. I wouldn't be surprised if folks in Johnson, Floyd, Magoffin, Morgan, Martin, and Pike ended up with an inch or more. So the call I made last night for 1"-2" is still certainly a possibility. The rest of us could get up to an inch, but that's about all I see from this wave.

One model that I frequently look at has been picking up on a second wave that moves towards KY on Saturday. I think the bulk of that precip will fall in parts of northern and northeast KY if at all! Saturday should be a real winner with highs in the 40s. Sad to get excited about 40s... LOL

We'll have to keep an eye out for more development next week. Another system will develop and track through the southern states next week. This is Thursday... we have plenty of time to watch this play out!

I have picked out two images for next Wednesday at 7am. Just to get the thought out there.

At this point we are looking at one of those border line forecasts. But it's still very early in the game! After we watch this activity for a couple more days I'll be able to read what these models are thinking a little better. A deeper track? Or a NW run? I have to see how it's handling some other things going on in the atmosphere.

Once again... thanks for stopping by!
