Looking ahead to next week

Chances of a large storm impacting the region are on the increase, but the details are not yet in focus.

There was a lot of buzz today on the internet and social media about the storm potential next week.  I don't want to get too in detail with it at this point, but I will give you some of my early thoughts.

The jet stream is about to go through a pattern change that is going to bring more warm air and moisture to the region, but still allow shots of cold air to dive in from the arctic.  This battle zone that sets up between the air masses can cause some big time storms across the eastern half of the US.

A lot of the models are now picking up on the storm next Tuesday and Wednesday, but the solutions on how it plays out are all over the place.  The bottom line is it looks like a system is in play for next week that has the potential to be a big impact storm somewhere in our region, whether or not that includes us is yet to be seen.

What I can tell you now is it looks like we will see some combination of rain, ice and snow Tuesday and Wednesday next week.  What I can't tell you is how much of each of those.  It's something we will keep a close eye on, but won't have a much better idea on specifics until the end of the weekend.  Until next time, take care!
