Beverage group: 18 mayors wrong on sugary drinks

So far, so good! Accumulations were generally light across southern KY. Now for the next round... I am not changing my accumulation forecast at this time. It will remain the same.

I'll wacth as the next wave gets fired up befre I'll make any changes to this forecast. Everything looks right on track at this point. I could take these totals up or down before the day is finished. Just sit tight!
I have read some of your comments and I am going to address them right now!

ok, It has stopped snowing for a couple hrs. now. Does this mean the first wave has come and gone?
Sherri... now we are waiting for the next wave! The first round is gone.

Can someone answer this? Why is Jim's forecast so different than that of the National Weather Service in Jackson. For instance, I live in one of the areas predicted to receive 5-7 inches by Jim. NWS is forecasting 1 to 2 for the same area. I've been to the NWS office and seen how they develop their forecast and it is for very specific areas. So far, Jim has been more accurate on these winter systems. I'm just curious at how they can look at the same data but reach such different conclusions.
Greg... It's all in how you interpret the data! This still isn't an exact science so there will be differences.
Posted by: Anonymous Why don't you update your forcast? The radio is giving something far different than you are. Why don't you just say that we can expect anything from a dusting to a foot. Then, you can say you got one right. Aren't you embarrassed to be so bad at your forecasts.
Anonymous... first, thanks for sharing your name. Second, when there isn't an update then that usually menas I don't think anything has changed. Thrid, If I said that I would miss!!!!! Fourth, If I miss this one it will be the first this season (Not patting myself on my back) and Finally, I have nothing to be embarrassed about! I feel wonderful about the forecasts this season. Thanks for taking time to spread negative energy around here

Danny: Jim is a whole lot more knowledgable about the terrain around here and the behavior of low pressure systems around e ky. It takes experience to learn the nature of storms around here, not to mention the upslope snow we get around here via the northwest flow on the back side of systems. The weather channel is very generalized. Jim is more accurate compared to the weather channel 10:1. Joe: We usually get more snow in Letcher, Harlan, pike, Bell, Knott, etc. (other extreme SE KY counties) becuase as low pressure systems rotate counter clockwise, the W-NW side of the storm brings cold canadian air from a northwest direction over the great lakes. As the moisture laden air from the great lakes begins to hit the west slopes of the Apps, the moisture and air rises and condenses and gives us the beloved upslope snow. Michelle: Probably early monday morning for the first system. Jim, If you want to add anything you can, just figured I would give some my two cents worth.
Derek... As always you have answered the questions these folks have. Remember folks... it's all about the upslope!

Where I'm an radio broadcaster I would like to know anything I should go by regarding this storm and what weather to report?
James... the next round is coming and will completely wrap-up on Thursday.
Several have asked what type of snow... Heavy wet or light dry. The period for the snow to be heavy and wet has passed. The colder air will pretty much run the show the rest of the week keping this dry and light!
I'll have another update later today.
