Once again... thank you so much for your totals. Next time we'll use this format so I can copy and past them for all to see. Here is my own personal example.
Name: Jim
Location: Hazard/Perry County
Snowfall Amount: 8" at the station 10" at my house
This format will be a lot easier for all of us to use. Plus you'll all get full credit. If you want to learn how to get accurate snowfall measurements... the NWS has a helpful link. How to Accurately Measure Snowfall
Here are snowfall totals as of 7pm Monday.

Impressive to say the very least! For locations other than higher elevations to see these snowfall amounts it just blows my mind. The intensity of this round of snow was amazing. I'm still waiting on the higher elevations like Black or Pine Mountain. I'm sure it is a royal mess up there!
Speaking of a royal mess... this next system looks to be just that! More like a royal pain if I do say so myself. You have heard me talk about "Riding The Fence" before. That's where we'll be on Wednesday-Thursday. When we ride the fence it means we'll more than likely experience everything Mother Nature has to offer. A taste of rain, a pinch of snow, and too much freezing rain. The radar will show every single color it has in the database. Determining where the line of freezing rain is my #1 concern.
Here are what the models are showing for precip type and timing.
GFS Weds Mid Morning GFS Weds At 10pm

GFS Thursday At 1am GFS Thursday Afternoon

According to the GFS... we'll go through an extended period of snow beginning before noon on Wednesday and lasting to around midnight. That's when the warmer air comes into play and allows for a layer in the atmosphere to melt anything falling just over our heads. When this melts it fall onto very cold surfaces and freezes upon contact and making a layer of ice. This lasts up until the afternoon hours on Thursday. This is just the GFS general rundown.
Here's the NAM
NAM Wednesday Afternoon NAM Thursday at 1am

NAM Thursday at 4am NAM Thursday at 7am

With the NAM you see the chnage from snow to freezing rain to rain comes earlier in the day. I'd much rather deal with a couple more inches of snow than all of this ice business. Here is an image that I put together highlighting what each area will see the most of on Thursday. This is an early look and just like a snowfall forecast.... it will need tweaking this week.

I will update this map as new data is released. This is just to get the general idea out there for you folks!
I'll update again on Tuesday!
