Rain Returns Wednesday

A few showers and storms could return to the mountains on Wednesday. Chief Meteorologist Shane Smith has a look at the forecast.

Good Tuesday evening friends, we had another simply wonderful day across southern and eastern Kentucky with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures.  Wednesday will start off nice once again but a cold front dipping into the region will likely spark off some late day showers and storms.

Some of the storms may be strong, and the rain could be heavy at times but I'm not expecting it to be as widespread as some of last week's storms.  A few isolated areas may have high water problems if the storms are very slow movers.  We should dry out by Thursday evening as the front checks back to the north and brings us very warm weather on Friday and Saturday.  Highs will return to the upper 80s both days.

Our next chance of widespread storms comes on Sunday as another cold front enters the area.

The GFS model is very aggressive on keeping rain chances through Tuesday with this front.  That would mean that if you want to do some outdoor activities for the long Labor Day Weekend, I would recommend getting those plans done on Saturday.

Below you can track the rain chances for tomorrow.

Until next time, take care!

-Shane Smith
