The Pattern Stays Active

It's Derby Weekend... and for those of you that don't really pay attention to all the pomp and circumstance... it's a WEEKEND and that makes us all smile!

The forecast will be lacking in grins and smiles and all the rest. Showers and storms will be in the area this weekend.

If you are planning to attend the Derby. I'll have that forecast for you just below. For the millions that won't be in attendance... I have you forecast first.

An old icky stationary frontal boundary will be hanging very close to the commonwealth all weekend long. When you have a boundary like this in the area it will keep the weather pattern very unsettled. Look at the YouTube movies I made below. It sums it all up.

With the boundary hanging out here... the air will be flowing from the north and the south into the front. Since the air can't go down... it is forced to rise. And since there is plenty of moisture in the air... that moisture is rising too! That leads to the development of some showers and storms. So like I said... very unsettled.

Any single one of these showers could produce something strong of even severe this weekend. Just keep that in the back of your mind.

Now for all of you Derby patrons. Here's what I am thinking about Louisville.

With rains today and more likely on Saturday... you can just about bet your bottom dollar that track consitions will likely be sloppy. There should be a decent gap of dry weather during the afternoon and leading up to the Derby. I DO NOT think it will rain all day long.

Here's my pick... Daddy Nose Best

Have a great and SAFE weekend.

C-Ya Bye
