The candidates have had their say. The paid political ads, the promises and the mudslinging are coming to an end. Now, it’s your turn. Like I said last week, your vote is your voice and now it’s time to let your voice be heard. It is a right that is paid for with the blood of our nation’s heroes, our veterans.

If you don’t vote, don’t complain.  Shut up … because no one cares about your opinion.  You gave up that right when you chose to remain silent on Election Day.   By the way, John McCain and Barack Obama are breaking with tradition this year.  Both will stump for votes on Election Day.  That should tell us something about how close this race really is.  No one is taking anything for granted and yes, every vote counts.

After you vote, I hope you will make plans to watch WYMT’s Election Night Coverage.  This is your Election Night Headquarters.  We will have live reports from Mitch McConnell and Bruce Lunsford’s campaign headquarters along with coverage of other key races in Eastern Kentucky and around the nation.  Republican National Committee Chairman Mike Duncan and Hindman Attorney Bill Weinberg will provide political insight and analysis during a special one hour edition of Mountain News at Six.  You will also find the latest results as the numbers come in on our election ticker and on www.wymtnews.com

The Races to Watch Include:
The Presidency
U.S. Senate
Congress
Kentucky Legislature
Mayors, City Councils and City Commissions
Some Magistrates
Some School Boards
Soil and Water Conservation Districts
Coal Run Village Annexation Question
Rockcastle County Property Tax Increase for the Soil Conservation District

It all begins election morning on Mountain News This Morning at 5:30am and our coverage, along with CBS News, will likely continue in to the wee hours of Wednesday morning.  Yes, I am expecting a long … long night as we elect our Nation’s 44th President.
