Many of you remember Lieutenant Colonel John Luttrell, the leader of our Mountain Warriors. John led three combat tours to Panama, Desert Storm and Operation Iraqi Freedom. In 22-years he never lost a man.
I remember when I introduced my son to the commander. He was only 9-years old. I told him, “You just met a true American hero.” John is a humble man. In a recent interview with WYMT’s Marie Luby, the Lieutenant Colonel once again deflected praise away from himself. “It's not anything that I did, it's just the good lord blessing me to be able to take those men over and bring them back home.”
Here are Lieutenant Colonel John Luttrell’s thoughts on Independence Day: The 4th of July reminds me that our Nation was founded under God. Our forefathers fought and died for that without reservation. Today, we (soldiers and veterans) have fought or are fighting for much the same reason. We believe that something that is just … worthy … and Godly … is worth paying the ultimate price for with our lives. Then, we hope to hear those words that we all want to hear one day, "Well done my good and faithful servant."
Well done indeed my friend. Thank you, your men and all our veterans for your dedication, service and sacrifice.
As always, thanks for making WYMT-TV your source for news and information. We appreciate your trust.
God Bless America! … and America … Bless God!
