What does Independence Day mean to you? I asked this question on Twitter and Facebook. Here are some final thoughts from our viewers. Dolly Estridge Bryant from Harlan writes: As we reflect on July 4th and thank our military personnel for serving our country, it also serves as a reminder to Perky that his brother who was serving in the Korean Conflict is still not accounted for. He went missing and has never been located. Several years ago Perky gave his DNA to try to match someday. His brother, then a student at Evarts High, volunteered to serve his country during this war. Hopefully, their family will have closure someday. God Bless the USA!! Karen Ayres Phillips from Harlan writes: July 4th has an added dimension of meaning this year after hearing the stories from my nephew a Marine just returning from deployment in Afghanistan. Our military men and women are working in difficult situations. Twelve members of the 3/8 WPNS Company did not return home. My father was a veteran stationed in the South Pacific during WWII; witnessed the nuclear test bombs in New Mexico and was without leave for over three years due to his assignment. The Fourth of July reminds me that Freedom is never "free." Remember the members of the military and their families this year and always. --------- Thanks again to everyone who submitted comments. It is my hope that we will honor our Veterans each and every day. We don’t have to wait for a special holiday to say “Thank You”. As always, thanks for making WYMT-TV your source for news and information. We appreciate your trust.

equality if not then surley now but it seems that only a few have cornered that market. What if any purpose did any conflict in our history serve except to end the lives of our troops much to soon if we dont pratice what we preach as far as the rights that we hold so dear .Everyone is entilted to having there voice heard especially in a dire situation or in a defence of vicious allagation leveled by individuals who are very suspect in there own right. politically motivated selectivisim in sociaty is not what mr jefferson had in mind.
