Last week I posted a week long series of articles from the Heritage Foundation discussing President Obama’s health care plan. I received several comments regarding those articles. At least one viewer questioned whether WYMT was biased.
First, let me thank everyone that commented. That’s what this blog is all about. My goal is to promote, encourage and cultivate conversation. I will post articles and comments from conservative, moderate and liberal thinkers alike.
Any referral to a web site or article not produced by WYMT is for informational purposes only and does not necessarily constitute an endorsement of the site or the opinion. My hope is that you will research the facts, listen to opposing opinions and then come to your own independent conclusion.
Here are the comments:
Greg in London wrote, “Almost a year ago, I said to myself, how could so many people even think about voting for Obama on his CHANGE message, well looks like to me we’re getting change.
It is obvious that Obama is limited in experience and he wants to keep giving handouts to the people that have always received them. For me and my house "We shall serve and Trust the Lord Jesus Christ" God Bless America, because we need it.”
Rene in Covington wrote, “Oh good grief! Does anyone actually believe them anymore?”
Because of an accident in 2000, I was left permanently disabled. I am on SSDI but I worked like crazy to get to a point where I could be employed again. I have now had the same part time job for 5 years and would willingly go full time except that with a permanent pre-existing condition there is no way I could afford the insurance or the medication which I need in order to function in the workplace. The public option would allow me to get off SSDI!
Andrea in Kansas wrote, “Republicans had both houses of Congress and the White House for the better part of 8 years. What were they doing about the worsening health care situation all that time? And now all of a sudden they want to be the "conscience"? I don't think so.”
Kay in Minnesota wrote, “Quote from one of the Indian Chiefs ... wish I could remember his name. The only truth the government told the Indians was," We are going to take your land" and they did … probably the only truth they have ever told.”
John in Harlan wrote, “The Democrats had control for most of 40 years and what did they do, nothing.
They (Dems/Repub) are all disappointing. One must plan to take care of one's self. Additionally we did not really have these problems a few generations ago. Note most colleges and hospitals were church based organizations before the government started to try to buy votes with their handouts.
Our constitution does not say the government must provide health insurance, cable tv, fashionable clothes/footware, just the right to pursue happiness. I speak as one who did not have it for several years and while thankful I do now, having it or not does not own my vote.”
Mark in Floyd County wrote, “Abortion is murder. Thou shalt not kill.”
Kate wrote, “We already fund abortions, in a sense with Medicaid. C'mon now. When we give up a woman's right to choose, well that's down right un-American. I never believed WYMT to be biased but your colors are starting to show.
Halyn in Somerset wrote, “The Heritage Foundation is wrong. Abortions are NOT funded in ANY of the health care reform bills. None of them would ever get out of committee if they did.”
Ryan in Eastern Kentucky wrote, “You could call it BillGormancare and if it's even a partial fix to our broken health care system then I am 100% for it.”
“I'm hoping that we adopt a PUBLIC OPTION and not the MAX TAX! I guess since Max Baucus took $2,039,231 from the health industry, he wouldn't do anything that hurts them. On the flip side, it's going to cost us big time.”
Do you have an opinion? I’ll share your thoughts here on the blog.
As always, thanks for making WYMT-TV your source for news and information. We appreciate your trust.
God Bless America!
