Ky. to receive $6 million from online gambling case
Posted: 11:53 PM - Gov. Steve Beshear says Kentucky will receive a settlement of more than $6 million from a case involving online gambling.
It’s a mad dash to the finish in the health care debate. President Obama hit the road again today in what’s being called a “make or break” week for the Democrats health care overhaul.
Democrats don’t have the votes they need yet to pass the bill, but the White House is confident the bill will pass by the end of the week.
Today Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell accused the Democrats of returning to behind the scenes “arm twisting and horse trading” to pass the bill.
“Democrat leaders are doing everything they can to convince a handful of lawmakers that they should vote for a bill they don’t really like and which their constituents overwhelmingly oppose.”
Meanwhile 3rd District Congressman John Yarmuth is calling on McConnell and other Republicans to pass health care reform.
In a speech on the house floor last week, Yarmuth cited the loss of more than 250 jobs at Louisville’s Jewish Hospital.
“To my senator and constituent Mitch McConnell, who keeps saying we should start over and take our time, 250 Louisvillians, your constituents and mine Senator, are the ones who are now starting over.”
Do you think Congress should pass the current health care reform legislation? Let me know your thoughts.
