(Editor’s Note: This poll was released Monday evening. I was out of the office and unable to post the results immediately. I felt the numbers were still worth posting.)
A new WHAS/Courier-Journal poll shows Attorney General Jack Conway and Lieutenant Governor Daniel Mongiardo are in a dead heat for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate.
Five weeks ago the poll showed Mongiardo with an 18 point lead over Conway. The latest numbers show Conway has narrowed the gap to only three points with 21 percent of Democratic voters still undecided.
The poll questioned 659 likely Democratic voters and has a margin of error of 3.9%.
Democratic U.S. Senate Primary
Mongiardo 35%
Conway 32%
Undecided 21%
In the Republican Primary, the poll shows little has changed since last month. Rand Paul is still holding on to a 15-point lead over Secretary of State Trey Grayson.
Both campaigns gained three points in the last five weeks. The undecided Republican vote is holding steady at 19%.
The poll questioned 446 likely Republicans and has a margin of error of 4.7%.
Republican U.S. Senate Primary
Paul 45%
Grayson 30%
Undecided 19%
What do you think about the poll results? I’ll share some of your comments here on the blog.
