(AP) Republicans say they're not trying to block the financial overhaul bill.
Senator Kay Bailey Hutchison says they just want to make sure it would end taxpayer bailouts of financial institutions.
In the party's weekly radio and Internet message, she said
Democrats and Republicans should agree that no company should be considered "too big to fail."
And she said taxpayers should never again be asked to bail out companies that, in her words, "made risky financial bets with other people's money."
Hutchison said "political games" shouldn't be allowed to derail efforts to get the nation's economy "back on track."
Senate Democrats have set a test vote Monday on the legislation to tighten federal oversight of the financial sector.
