Hal Rogers endorses Grayson in GOP Primary Race

Fifth District Congressman Hal Rogers endorsed Trey Grayson today in the Republican Primary for U.S. Senate.

Fifth District Congressman Hal Rogers endorsed Trey Grayson today in the Republican Primary for U.S. Senate.

Rogers called Grayson a “strong fiscal conservative” that is needed in the U.S. Senate “to stop the liberal Democrats from bankrupting our country.

Rand Paul’s campaign issued this statement.

"It's funny that on the same day Trey loses Dr. James Dobson's endorsement that he can't even win his own internal push poll. Rasmussen reported today that Rand is the stronger Republican in the fall and Public Policy Polling should have results out in the next day or so. No one, at this point, expects anything but a big Rand Paul lead based on his support for balanced budgets, term limits, a pro-life and pro-family agenda and a strong national defense."

Trey Grayson’s campaigned issued this statement.

Congressman Hal Rogers of Kentucky’s 5th Congressional District announced today that he is endorsing Secretary of State Trey Grayson for U.S. Senate in the May 18th Republican primary.  Congressman Rogers hasn’t received less than 70% of the vote since 1992 in the critical 5th Congressional district, where primary voter turnout is expected to be the highest statewide.

“Kentuckians need a Senator who will work with me and the rest of our federal delegation to fight for our values and priorities.  Trey Grayson is the candidate who will do just that.  We need him in the U.S. Senate to stop the liberal Democrats from bankrupting our country,” Rogers said.

“Trey Grayson will be a strong fiscal conservative in Washington, just like he has been as Secretary of State.  He cut spending in his office by 15% without cutting services.  That’s the kind of leadership we need to cut out-of-control spending, pay down the debt, and balance the budget.  You can count on Trey Grayson to stand up to the tax, spend, and borrow agenda of Obama, Pelosi, and Reid,” Rogers continued.

He continued, “I need Trey Grayson to join me to fight the liberal policies in Washington because I know he has the conviction to stand up for our values.  That’s why he is the only candidate endorsed by Kentucky Right to Life.  I am certain that Trey Grayson is the candidate who will be the most effective Senator for Kentucky, and I humbly ask all Kentuckians to vote for him on May 18th.”

Grayson commented, “Hal Rogers has always made us proud in Kentucky, and I am thrilled to have his vote and support.  Our campaign continues to build momentum heading into Election Day, and Hal’s support will make a huge difference in our effort.”
