Daniel Mongiardo and Jack Conway are neck and neck as they head into the home stretch for the Democratic nomination for U.S. Senate.

A new WHAS/Courier Journal Bluegrass poll shows Mongiaro clinging to a slim one point lead with 12-percent of voters still undecided.  Two months ago Jack Conway trailed by 18-points in this same poll.

No surprise here, Mongiardo holds a three to one advantage in Eastern Kentucky.

Here are the numbers.

Mongiardo     38%
Conway         37%
Price               7%
Buckmaster     3%
Sweeney         3%
Undecided    12%

Mongiardo Campaign Release

Mongiardo Leads Conway in Bluegrass Poll

Three Independent Polls in Last Seven Days; All Have Mongiardo Winning

FRANKFORT – The Bluegrass Poll released by the Louisville Courier-Journal and WHAS-11 TV in Louisville shows Mongiardo leading Conway by one point, 38 – 37.

Mongiardo campaign spokesman Kim Geveden said, “The Bluegrass Poll confirms that Daniel Mongiardo continues to lead Jack Conway despite being heavily outspent and enduring a relentless barrage of false negative attack ads.  With the Bluegrass Poll added to the mix, over the last seven days, there have now been three separate independent polls, all showing Daniel Mongiardo winning by an average of 5.4 points.”

The Bluegrass Poll conducted by Survey USA sampled 662 likely voters May 9-11 and has a MoE +/- 3.9%.

“While I am sure the Conway camp will go into full spin cycle trying desperately to suggest they have momentum, the fact is, over the last 30 days, Jack Conway's campaign has stalled," Geveden said.

To prove his point, Geveden pointed to the last three Bluegrass Polls conducted by Survey USA.

March 1-3     Mongiardo 45 – 37  +18     Undecided 19 Sample Size 590        MoE 4.1%

April    9-11   Mongiardo 35 – 32    +3     Undecided 21  Sample Size 659       MoE 3.9%

May    9-11    Mongiardo 38 – 37    +1     Undecided 12  Sample Size 662       MoE 3.9%

According to the Bluegrass Poll, Conway picked up 15 points from March 3 to April 11. However, from April 9 to May 11, Conway barely moved two points – statistically irrelevant.

“For the past 16 months, Daniel has spent his time and effort traveling the state, meeting and listening to voters concerns, while Jack Conway has spent his time chasing after money from the big utilities, Wall Street insiders and Washington special interests.  There is no question that the working families of Kentucky know that Daniel Mongiardo is on their side, and we feel very confident as we approach election day,” Geveden concluded.

Supporter,

I have big news to share with you. Survey USA's latest poll shows what our own polling has told us, that Jack is surging. We know we can win this election, but we need to be able to keep our ads on the air and get out the vote for Jack. If we can raise $10,000 before midnight Friday, we can get our message out this weekend-in the final crucial days before Tuesday's primary.

There are only six days left and you have the power to keep our message on the air.
