President Obama’s weekly address: Chairmen of Gulf Oil Spill Commission

President Barack Obama has chosen a former Senator and an ex EPA administrator to head up an investigation of the Gulf oil spill.

(AP) He's dealt with a big oil spill in the past -- and now William Reilly will be one of the leaders of a commission looking into the Gulf of Mexico disaster.

Saturday President Barack Obama  named Reilly -- who was head of the Environmental Protection Agency during the Exxon Valdez spill in Alaska in 1989 -- and former Florida Senator Bob Graham to head the panel.

In his weekly radio and Internet Address, The President said, "I can't think of two people who will bring greater experience or better judgment to the task at hand."

The panel will examine everything from what caused the spill to the safety of offshore drilling to operations at the Minerals Management Service, the federal agency that grants drilling rights.

The President plans to name five other panel members.
