President Barack Obama says he is devoting nearly two billion dollars from the economic stimulus to new solar plants.

In his weekly address, the President says the initiative will create thousands of jobs and increase the country's use of renewable energy sources. He says the U.S. will "keep competing aggressively" to make sure new industries take root here.
