I received this letter in response to Brad Parke’s op-ed piece on Operation UNITE
Amen for Operation UNITE
I have had the opportunity to work with Operation UNITE and UNITE Pike for close to 5 years since I came to Pike County to be the Director of Missions for the Pike Association of Southern Baptists.
I want to take this time to echo a huge AMEN!! to this letter since Operation UNITE is anything but a program run by Washington politicians and while Congressman Hal Rogers was and is a driving force behind Operation UNITE, it is the workers on the frontlines who make this program the great success that it has been at effectively dealing with the serious drug problem in Southeast Kentucky.
Karen Kelly and her staff do an awesome job at bringing together all the key players who play a significant role in battling this life-threatening problem in our region, communities, schools, and families. I have had the opportunity to be at a number of the events sponsored by Operation UNITE and have been totally impressed with how all these agencies work together in presenting a concerted effort in this battle.
These agencies have been willing to set aside any personal agendas for the greater cause of eradicating drug abuse in our area and it is working.
