A top House Republican says the government's spending problem has gotten so bad that the future is uncertain and the nation's ability to create jobs is limited.
In the weekly Republican radio and Internet address, Wisconsin Congressman Paul Ryan, chairman of the House Budget Committee, says, "Washington's obsession with the next election has come at the expense of the next generation."
Ryan contends that spending on health and retirement programs "will crowd out spending on everything else, including national security."
He praised the 11th-hour budget deal that trims $38.5 billion in spending through the end of September. He says it's "good news for job creators in America."
