WYMT Mountain News goes High Definition

This is by far the most significant milestone in WYMT’s history since the station signed on the air on October 19, 1985.

The wait is finally over!

Eastern Kentucky’s number one rated newscasts is going High Definition.

WYMT will launch the first phase of its HD upgrade Tuesday during a special noon newscast.

Our technical staff has spent the last six months rewiring master control, running cables and installing the latest technology in our new studio control center. The upgrade includes six new high-tech HD robotic studio cameras and a new HD graphics package.

Our news and production teams have put in hours and hours of overtime learning and practicing with the new system. All the hard work and extra hours will pay off Tuesday afternoon.

I hope you’ll join us at noon for our first ever HD newscast. Then again at four, six and eleven as we begin this new chapter in our news coverage for Eastern Kentucky.

This is by far the most significant milestone in WYMT’s history since the station signed on the air on October 19, 1985.

And this is only the beginning of what is shaping up to be an historic year for Eastern Kentucky’s “Mountain Television.”

Our technical staff is already working on our next expansion, which includes a fully automated HD master control. This sets the stage for the launch of WYMT’s second channel this summer.

Many of your local cable systems have already agreed to carry our new channel.  WYMT.2 will offer expanded news and sports coverage, including LIVE local high school and college football and basketball games, along with award winning films, box office hits and retro TV series.

This is an exciting time for WYMT and just one more way we can serve you, our “Mountain Family”.

Thank you for sharing your joys and heartaches with us for the past 29 years. We appreciate your trust and we look forward to sharing our future together.

Thanks for making WYMT-TV your source for news and information.  We appreciate your trust.

God Bless America!
