We're back at it. Chateau de Borek is at full capacity again. D'Arcy and I took in a new mother cat and her five 2-day-old kittens last week. The Woodford County Humane Society needed some foster help and, well, we had the available space (read: computer room with a closet...which, apparently, is fine with Calista *the mother who's very nice). The kittens are so young, (their eyes remain closed and their little umbilical cords are still attached). It'll be another day or so before eyelids begin to lift. Another week or so to become more mobile and, (here comes the fun part), litter box training about 3 weeks from now.
This is by far the youngest batch we've had to foster. When kittens are so young and vulnerable, it's good to get them away from shelters just so they can grow in a more sterile environment. Calista and her kittens will be available for adoption in about 2 months. We would love to see them go to good homes. More details on how they are growing and pictures will follow in my next posting.
