It’s been pretty quiet (in terms of feline foster visitors) in our house lately. While we’ve spent a lot of time visiting area Humane Societies: LHS, Woodford Humane Society, Madison County Humane Society A.L.L., D’Arcy has started volunteering her time with the area Spay Our Strays group which (with connections with other local/national humane groups) look to help control the stray cat population with a trap/neuter/release program. It’s taken some time away from our continued effect to foster kittens/cats at home but it also is a step to help out on a larger scale. We’ll probably be back to having more kitten house guests soon but in the meantime, a few updates:
The Lexington Humane Society and PetSmart Charities, Inc have teamed up to create a new adoption center at the Hamburg Crossing PetSmart in Lexington. The 1900 square foot center that’ll house up to 40 cats, kittens, dogs and puppies is slated to open October 1st.
The Madison Humane Society is also looking for donations to help fund a surgery for a kitten hit by a car earlier in the summer. I’ve provided the picture of Cutlass and the link to help him below. The other non-profit sites are listed in no particular order below.
