WHAT A YEAR!

WKYT has a long tradition of really pulling out the stops on election night. Our entire staff, from every department comes in to help with the extra effort. For weeks, we've been planning live shots, mapping out routes for our crews to dash from place to place and most importantly getting our systems ready to handle the huge volume returns that will come in.

Our goal is to give you fast returns and some Kentucky context about what's going on. We'll have more than 100 years of campaign reporting experience in our studio.... on set, I'll be doing analysis alongside anchors Barbara Bailey and Sam Dick. Amber Philpott will handle our presidential coverage as we keep you informed on the local and state scene. EKU's Joe Gershtenson will also add his insights. Our reporters will be live at Mitch McConnell and Bruce Lunsford headquarters and several other locations.

Among the races to watch...

The Presidency
Kentucky's US Senate race
other Kentucky congressional races
Kentucky Legislative races
City Councils and Commissions
Some District and Circuit Judge's races
School Boards
A special Coroner's race in Clark County
Danville's ballot issue about changing to a Mayor-Council form of government

And there are others. There's a lot to keep track of and we'll try to get to all of it throughout the evening. We will constantly update WKYT.COM with the latest returns as well.

This has been one exciting year. Our Democratic Primary, which most thought would be too late to matter, ended up being an attention getter. Our U-S Senate race has ended up very competitive. And we'll see if Kentucky goes with the presidential winner as it has in every election since 1964.

We hope you'll be along!!
