All I have heard for the last couple of weeks is the coming of the iPad. I read a good article yesterday and wanted to share. It is from Time magazine called; “The iPad Launch: Can Steve Jobs Do It Again?” The thing that stood out is how Apple approaches design of a new product and what isn’t in the new iPad. The author of the article questions; “… no multitasking, no camera”, something I would question as well until I read the answer from Apple’s design department. Jonathan Ive from Apple said; “"In many ways, it's the things that are not there that we are most proud of," he tells me. "For us, it is all about refining and refining until it seems like there's nothing between the user and the content they are interacting with."” Think about how all of the other computer companies load up their devices with as much STUFF as possible. Think about all of the features you actually use, very few. I thought about how I use my iPhone and realized that it has been the simplicity of my device that has and keeps me satisfied. I look at other devices that I use and it is the lack of simplicity that has kept me frustrated. Once again Apple is going to knock one out of the park. Until other technology company’s start thinking like Apple when they design something they will never win this battle, bye-bye “Amazon Kindle”.
