If you have read any of my BLOGS you know I love technology. I also love when technology is used to make us more efficient and WKYT’s reporters are using the latest technology in the field as well as the studio, the Apple iPad.
In the studio they are using the iPads for scripts. The main reason for this is to reduce printing cost. So far they have been welcomed; we still have few who are old school and like the paper and the ability to write on the scripts. The iPads in the studio are wifi only and the feedback that I am getting is they work great.
The reports are also taking iPads into the field with 3G connects and the feedback has been positive. I was on Facebook the other day and noticed that one of the Reporters, Tamara Evans, had posted a picture of the iPad she was using on Facebook. I knew we were using them so I wanted to find how they were working in the field. Below is a video I put together on with Tamara talking about the iPad in the field.
As you can see from the video she loves having the ability to communicate and gather information via email, the internet and Facebook. Do you have an iPad? Let us know what you like or dislike about your iPad.
This is Tim Coles and you have had your Technology sermon. Comment below or email me at tcoles@wkyt.com.
