Updated: 2:02 PM I was giving a presentation to group the other day and we were talking about social media. I asked if any of them accessed social media during their work day. Not surprising over three quarters answered yes. I know managers and business owners are shaking their heads wonder how many people are doing it at their organization. Here is what I will say to them, relax it’s our generation’s smoke break.

And because it is free businesses are trying to figure out how to use social media to keep their name in front of their customers. To say social media is abuzz with people talking about it is an understatement and Buzz is a good term for social media.

Updated: 10:29 PM I read a lot and I mean a lot of newsletters and articles each day talking about mobile and mobile video are the next biggest thing. I agree but it has always been tough to nail down time lines as to when mobile video would be considered a legitimate media by advertisers. Yes people have been advertising via mobile video for a while.

Posted: 4:36 PM As I type this BLOG on a Windows XP machine I realize that a lot of irony goes into what I am getting ready to say which is WINDOWS Sucks. My company buys me a Windows machine and so I use a Windows machine. I have had this PC just over a year and I received it with Windows Vista. Within two hours I had found ten things that the new machine could not do because of driver issues and other configuration issues that we had to labor through.

For those who have not gone to the site yet, they are an online grocery store with no perishable items. I just purchased razors, shampoo and soap.

I have learned how to be as diplomatic as possible in suggesting ways to improve upon bad websites. I just read the article “Showdown At The Web Corral: Convincing Your Boss to Fix a Hideous Website” by Dan Heath from “Fast Company” magazine that provides a solution to make changes happen.

Here is just a small list of social sites available; Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, AIM Status, GTalk Status, Plurk, MySpace, Tumblr, Identi.ca, Brightkite, FriendFeed, Jaiku, Blogger, Plaxo Pulse, LiveJournal, Bebo, hi5, Mashable, kwippy, Xanga, WordPress.com, Delicious, Friendster, Yahoo 360, Koornk, Diigo, you are, Multiply, Yammer, Flickr, Utterli, imeem, seismic, Laconi.ca, Present.ly, Vox, TypePad, ShoutEm, StreetMavens, Radar, myYearbook, Photobucket, Posterous, Yahoo Profiles, Tagged. So many social sites, so little time to visit each one. There are more social sites out there, if I missed one you like I apologize now.

Updated: 2:53 PM I read a ton of newsletters each day and besides Health Care Reform and the economy all everyone wants to talk about is social media and how it can be used for business. As the title states our country has gone Twitter crazy and Facebook mad. Yes I participate in all of them so I can better understand how to use them in the media world and the business environment. Social Marketing is like any other marketing, understand your audience and you provide them with information and offers that will help drive traffic.

Posted: 1:56 PM Have you seen the Palm Pre commercials? A lot of chatter on the internet about how these commercials makes people feel creepy. I have watched several versions and I liked the commercial. I am not creeped out by them. Take a look and let me what you think.

Posted: 2:56 PM After looking through the twitter followers for WKYT, guess what Matthew Robson is correct. Most of the followers are what teenagers would call old people. Of course everything is relative. What is interesting about the article is how teenagers consume media. Look at the insert pulled from the article. Posted: 4:20 PM As many of you may know I have been a loyal Blackberry user for years. I have even written about them in previous BLOGS. My loyalty ran so deep I proclaimed I would never switch. I was excited when the Storm came out to go up against the mighty iPhone. Don’t get me wrong I like Apple products, I have an iMac at home and it is great. The problem I thought I had with the phone was the keyboard and it wasn’t business phone.

Posted: 9:30 AM I get this all the time from clients; “I know I need to build a website”. You’re darn straight you need to build a website because your competition is online. Getting companies to advertise online is a difficult task and it is exacerbated by the fact most companies either have no website or they have a really bad website.

Like that is some great insight that someone hasn’t shared already. Here is the thing, as I sit here putting this together I get to have a voice.
