Posted: 10:45 AM My lights have been strung outside my house, I am thinking about Christmas and I have "Black Friday" and "Cyber Monday" behind me. If you are shopping for a GEEK this holiday then the list below is for you. Here are my picks for hot Geek items this Christmas.
Posted: 10:22 AM If you are into technology like I am then I am sure you have been asked this question before. Don’t worry this post isn’t about you or me it is about simplifying an old technology. I am a sucker for simplicity and I have found the easiest way to take credit cards via my iPhone or iPad. I have started businesses and have had to set up credit card processing before. Trust me if you haven’t had to go through this nightmare avoid it like the plague. I believe it is easier to take over a small country than to setup credit card processing through a bank. That was until I found Squareup.com (http://www.squareup.com).
Updated: 9:46 AM I just went to a convention in Louisville and asked my friends at Verizon if I could test one of their mobile HOTSPOTS. They graciously sent me a MiFi 4G LTE HOTSPOT. Let me say that I was impressed with how easy it was to get online.
Updated: 10:58 PM Being in sales I am always looking for tools to help in the sales process. Here is a slide show from inc.com for "7 Must-Have Apps for Salespeople". I already have and use "DocScan" and I need to purchase "CamCard".
Posted: 11:47 AM In my daily adventures around the internet I come across some really cool items and this is by far the coolest computer mouse I have ever seen. It is the Cyborg R.A.T. 9. Check out the video on this page:
Posted: 3:25 PM I have been testing the new Verizon Xoom from Motorola and it is Fast! If you have read any of my BLOGS you know I am an Apple fan. As you also know Verizon keeps having me trial android equipment, this is another great device. If you are not an Apple fan then you will love the Xoom tablet.
Updated: 3:19 PM Something funny happen after my BLOG post “AT&T Failed me in the Big City!” went live. I received an email from Verizon saying they would loan me a phone the next time I traveled. First I was glad to find out that someone had read my BLOG, secondly I was impressed that Verizon was listening not only about what was being said about them but also their competitors.
Posted: 4:43 PM I spent three days in New York City recently and my AT&T iPhone 4 failed me. If you have read any of my previous blogs you know I love my iPhone. Now I know why so many people have complained about AT&T.
Posted: 1:39 PM So I got an iPad for Christmas. Steve Jobs announced on last Wednesday that they are coming out with the new iPad 2. The new iPad is on the shelves today! What, two months and my iPad is outdated technology?
Posted: 8:59 AM If you’re thinking about moving out of the Stone Age and upgrading your mobile phone to a smart phone, how much data will you use and what plan do you need to purchase from your cell compnay? Recently AT&T changed their data plans and they no longer offer unlimited data for anyone who upgrades. They have two plans available; at $15 plan that gets you 200MB of data transfer a month. The other plan is $25 and you get 2GB of data transfer. How much do you really need?
Posted: 4:00 PM If you have read any of my BLOGS you know I love technology. I also love when technology is used to make us more efficient and WKYT’s reporters are using the latest technology in the field as well as the studio, the Apple iPad.
Updated: 5:36 PM I have waded through all of the newsletters and articles in regards to the iPhone 4 Antenna issues and I told myself not to chime in because everyone will think that I am on the Apple payroll. First let me clear that up, I am not. I have played with the iPhone 4 for almost 20 days now and I have not had any real problems with my phone.
Updated: 3:14 PM One of my biggest challenges is to keep up with all the information coming in from email, text and social media. On my phone it is fairly easy to do; I just have to navigate between apps. When I am at my desk it becomes more of a challenge.
Posted: 10:34 AM I just watched the Watch Apple CEO Steve Jobs introduce the new iPhone 4. The video is almost 2 hours long and it is worth the time if you love technology like I do. If you have read any of my BLOGs you will know that I am an APPLE fan.
Posted: 10:15 AM Things happen in our lives where we have to let a lot of people know what is going on and this past week my mother fell and broke her hip. Our family lives in a lot of other places and I needed to focus on mother while also being able to communicate with family.
Updated: 5:49 PM The other day I noticed a stack of Yellow Pages next to where people clock in at WKYT. It was left there so anyone how wanted a new Yellow pages book could grab one. I have kept an eye on the stack to see how many were taken. Three days and only three books were taken. Eventually they will all be thrown out. What a waste of paper. Ask yourself the last time you opened the Yellow pages.
Posted: 4:07 PM I just read an article and power point about how 8 to 18 year olds consume media and its impact. As media transitions to digital formats so shall the eyeballs follow. In the media world it is all about the audience size. The bigger the audience the more you can charge.
Posted: 4:57 PM I just wrote a BLOG calling social media our generations smoke break. It's funny how an employer doesn't get upset when someone sits in the break room with their feet propped up with the sports section.
Updated: 11:40 AM All I have heard for the last couple of weeks is the coming of the iPad. I read a good article yesterday and wanted to share. It is from Time magazine called; “The iPad Launch: Can Steve Jobs Do It Again?”
Posted: 9:42 AM Through my daily travels on the internet I come across many websites. About 90% are useless but it is the 10% that I come across that peak my interest. One of them I wanted to share with you is TED.com. If you’re a thinker and want to know about trends and where the movers and shakers in our world are directing us then you need to spend time on TED.com.
