In Class a Football the Frankfort High Panthers are having a great season under Coach Craig Foley. The Panthers are 6 & 1 and ranked #3 in Class A behind Beechwood and Raceland. The remarkable thing is that Frankfort is accomplishing all of this after losing all-stater and Mr. Football finalist, E.J. Fields who is now suiting up for the Kentucky Wildcats.

Coach Foley knew he had some playmakers returning in 2008. However, no one could predict the outstanding performance that Quan Weaver and Dwight Tillman combined for, against Eminence. Weaver, a Tailback/Linebacker put up an amazing 318 all purpose yards, with 146 rushing, and 90 yards on a kickoff return. Weaver also returned an interception for 82 yards. Dwight Tillman matched this incredible feat and had 278 all purpose yards with 99 yards on three receptions. He also had a 90 yard punt return for a touchdown, and an 89 yard kickoff return for a score. This dynamic duo combined for a staggering 596 all purpose yards. Those numbers would impress anyone including their former star E.J. Fields

Frankfort High is lead by Quarterback Keri Metcalf who is a cousin to former football star Terry Metcalf. In the 2008 season Keri is a dual threat with over 700 yards passing and 500 yards rushing. Combine this with Quan Weaver who has already rushed for over 1000 yards this year, and you have a dangerous backfield that can literally go the distance on every single play. This backfield tandem of Quan and Keri have put up 20 touchdowns so far this season. Tillman is also the leading receiver with 10 receiving scores to his credit already this year. .

Both the defense and the offensive line are anchored by other standout players in Tyler Mattison and Will Smith. The Linebackers are solid with the aforementioned Weaver and Tillman. Aaron Hall, Andrew Grider, and Marcus Washington all play big roles on defense for Frankfort. Deshon Floyd plays Tight End and some Defensive End. The defense was never better than in their 30-0 shutout last week over Eminence. The Frankfort offense and defense will be tested Halloween night when they take on Danville, a team Frankfort defeated handily last year

Some people might say that Class A Football goes through Ft. Mitchell and Beechwood High School. Frankfort is hoping that in 2008 the Class A title can be relocated to the capital city of Frankfort.

Frankfort High and Coach Foley are the Team of the Week this Saturday on the Scholastic Ball Report On WKYT-Channel 27 at 11:30 a.m.
