Coach Carl ‘Red’ Hutchinson has guided Paul Dunbar’s boys basketball team to a 7 and 1 record so far this year. The Bulldogs have not lost to an in state team all season. The team looks poised for a run at the city championship in 2009.

Dunbar is led by point guard Nick Hudson. “Huddy “has led the team the last couple of seasons at the point guard position. He entered Tuesdays’ game with city rival Lafayette averaging 23 points and 5 rebounds. Hudson had 21 points and sevens assists against the Generals. Bryce With a Dunbar junior, is a big 6-7 junior and poured in 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds in that game and Tyler Rogers had 14 points. Also, five players scored in double figures for the bulldogs. Todd Lanter and Lamont Johnson also joined the scoring party with 14 and 10 points respectively.

Dunbar is ranked in the top ten in every poll out there for a reason. Their strengths are simple. They have good balance, good coaching and kids that just love to play Basketball. The passion for the game is the thing that drives a lot of the Bulldog players. Dunbar could have what it takes to hoist the big trophy in March. Carl ‘Red’ Hutchinson may just be the man to engineer Paul Dunbar back to the pinnacle of high school basketball.
