It’s hard to believe that once again it is show time for setting the brackets for the boys and girls state basketball tournaments. Kentucky is one of only two remaining states with a single classification for high school boys and girl’s basketball, crowning one state champion for each. The Draw Show is scheduled for Friday January 28th at 1:00p.m. (ET) at the WKYT Studio in Lexington, Kentucky. The show is aired live and attracts a statewide television audience and international web viewership as well.
Dave Baker will host the Draw Show along with representatives from PNC Bank and Houchens Industries. KHSAA Commissioner Julian Tackett will also provide some insight into the two “greatest shows in hoops” along with ticket information. Lea Wise Prewitt and I will break down the top girl’s teams in the state, and I will provide some commentary on the boy’s regional contenders. As always, I will have to add a few comments on my “no love teams” that could surprise some people out there. The suspense builds as KHSAA Assistant Commissioner Butch Cope conducts each of the two separate draws by picking the 16 numbered ping pong balls out of the hopper one at a time, to determine which of the sixteen regions will play the other. The Draw Show signifies the official start of high school “March Madness” in Kentucky.
Don’t forget to catch the Draw Show live this Friday, January 28th at 1:00p.m. On WKYT Chanel 27, Insight cable in Louisville, WBKO in Bowling Green, WYMT in Hazard, KHSAA.TV, or on ihigh who will stream it live on the internet.
