If you haven’t heard, Rockcastle County Basketball Center, Sara Hammond was named to the 2011 McDonalds All American Basketball Team. This is quite an honor as only 24 players in the country are selected. Sara is the first Kentucky girl ever picked for the squad. What you may not know is Sarah Hammond is an even better person than player.
Hammond is beloved by everyone in the Rockcastle County community. Her teammates call her the consummate team player and Coach Christy Noble says she is a once in a lifetime kid, and does all this while maintaining a 4.0 GPA in the classroom. Sarah and her team are looking for a return trip to Bowling Green for the Houchens Industries/KHSAA Girls Sweet 16 Tournament. If they make it back look for them to shine along with the play of McDonalds All American Sara Hammond. Following her graduation later this year Sarah will play her college basketball at the University of Louisville.
Bowling Green High School Chane Behannon was also named to the boys McDonalds All American team. This big strong Center dominated in the paint for the Purples this year. Behannon will also take his talents to the University of Louisville next year.
