Did everyone have a great Summer? It went by way too fast! I did hit a major League baseball game, a couple of Legend’s and Bat’s games, a trip to the lake, A bunch of golf, a few family get-to-gether’s etc

Did everyone have a great Summer? It went by way too fast! I did hit a major League baseball game, a couple of Legend’s and Bat’s games, a trip to the lake, A bunch of golf, a few family get-to-gether’s etc………………! I don’t really think the high gas prices kept people from traveling throughout the state but, it definitely encouraged them to stay away from the beach according to national polls and survey’s. I asked several of my tourism industry partners about their visitation numbers this spring and summer and they were very happy. Plus, there is the big Labor Day Holiday still yet to be experienced.

Last week we talked about sports tourism. I feel like the Eastern-Western game may attract 25 thousand fans. I just have a feeling. Lots of class and fraternity/sorority reunions before and during the game too! Louisville is host to the World IronMan Championship this weekend too! It’s the same day and in part, the same location as the UK-Louisville Football game, that’s going to be interesting to say the least…..

How about Farmer’s Markets throughout the state. Good veggies and fruits just in time for tailgating. You know that’s an opportunity to see another area of the state on a weekend right? Travel to a different county and check out their produce and sorghum and so on. Are you looking for a location for the family to reunite this Fall? Consider the Kentucky State Parks!Consider a vineyard/winery, the Salato Wildlife center in Frankfort or camping at Elkhorn creek!

This week I am taking some TV folks to a few horse farms for a tour so they can show the horse industry and the people involved in it to viewers in California , Arizona and New Mexico ………………. This Fall I think I’ll take a short visit to the far western part of the State. Known as the Purchase area, the Land Between the Lakes has a million things to do. Golf, great restaurants, boating, private and public accommodations and much more! Please plan on visiting the Ryder Cup Experience event in Louisville . Get a taste for the event without The parking and ticket headaches.
