In September, in
Kentucky we celebrate many things, we celebrate Football, Church Picnics, Elections, Fall Leaf changes and more! Now I’ve never made a secret out of the fact that I despise winter. I hate IT….. except for Christmas! I say this about Winter because all the things I mentioned are pre-cursers to WINTER. Am I the only one that hates winter but, loves all the Fall Activities? Well this Fall We have the Ryder Cup and that is a special event. This Fall we have October’s Court Day’s in Mt. Sterling being extended an additional day! We can celebrate A million things in the Fall!
Some ideas I have about tourism promotion include, looking for and buying
Kentucky produce, known as “Kentucky Proud”!!!!!!!!!!! The other day I met Stephen Yates, he is the director of Agritourism for the Dept of Agriculture in
Kentucky ! Pushing the idea of searching out and buying
Kentucky agri-products is really something that is catching on! As Bill Murray said in the movie “Stripes” – “chicks in
New York are paying top dollar for this stuff”. Fresh, locally grown/harvested honey, sorghum, tomatoes, blackberries, corn, candles etc………. are not expensive here, but those items demand top dollar prices in large city’s! Stephen does a great job for Agriculture in
Kentucky
September is Bourbon Heritage month and Agri-tourism month too! I’ll be featuring a different Orchard or u-pick farm each week! The Annual Bourbon festival is this month. Again, Ryder Cup and Court Day’s and geeeeeeeeeeez… lot’s of stuff happening each week! I love September, even though it inches us ever Closer to those dreaded winter months! Please look at our festivals and events schedule on the website www.kentuckytourism.com !
