I know some of you are suffering from Ryder Cup exhaustion! I must admit I am too! But lots of people did lots of work on behalf of the Commonwealth in order to put our best face on for the International Travel Writers we hosted. As I mentioned a week ago, Irish, Scottish, English and Canadian writers were in the state (some still here) to visit our many attractions before and after their trip to Valhalla!
Last week I was able to visit with Raymond Floyd and Johnny Miller. What a personal treat that was! Comments from our guests’ regarding the hospitality and grace we showed have been overwhelming. In fact, we already have stories and articles being written about the week in London, Dublin and Toronto! Way more publicity to come in the future too! I met the Welsh Prime Minister too. He was in Louisville to see what a working Ryder Cup looks like! Here’s a list of the weekly “hats off” for their help and work last week, you may know some of them: Jaime Link, Mona Juett, Barb Atwood, Marge Bateman, Beth Holbrook, Merit Golf Vacations, State Dept. of Economic Development, Frankfort Tourism, Tara Guenther, Wales Ryder Cup Authority, John Nicholson, Donna Maloney, Paul Azinger, Buffalo Trace Staff, Logan Mayer, Kevin Nuss, Ken Harvey, Karen Miller and more that I haven’t space to list.
Okay lets move on to some festivals, The World Chicken Festival is this weekend in London, Ky. Fall festivals are happening in many counties all across the state. Ken Harvey is the man! He’s been a friend for a long time, he’s one of the best. DON’T FORGET TO BUY KENTUCKY PROUD items. Take a tour and support Kentucky’s agritourism ventures whenever possible. Tailgating, fall festivals etc.. Make sure your support our wineries and farmer’s markets and others buy purchasing jellies, sauces and other items from right here in the Bluegrass!
“slow down, buckle up and get there in one piece”
