Every year at this time we have done one of three things! We have made a resolution to do something different, two; already busted the resolution we’ve made or, third; haven’t decided what to be resolute about! In case you’ve found yourself in a “what to do now’ situation here’s your solution. Why not sit down, relax and really give some thought to your travel plans in ’09?
Obviously spending your time and dollars in Kentucky is what I have in mind! Grab a 2009 monthly calendar; after you have marked off the ballgames, work and other commitments, you’re set and all you have to do is to dedicate an interest to each month. For instance, since the winter months mean indoors why not make one weekend (or Saturday at least) a museum month! April can be Keeneland month, May is Ky. State Park month, August is camping month, June and July can be vineyard months. Getting the idea? Dedicate one or two days a month to something different, something you haven’t done before! You could go with a regional or specific theme calendar! BBQ tours, Bluegrass Music tours, Civil War trails, factory tours!
I have committed to doing the following; January is going to be factory tour month, February (is having a Hot Brown at the actual Brown Hotel month) you know, food icon month! I won’t go into each month, but I promise I will report at the beginning of each month what my personal focus will be……………….What are some of your all’s Tourism resolutions? Also I would like to ask a favor, if you have old family photos from childhood visits to State Parks, Mammoth Cave, Colonel Sanders’ café or other vacations scan them and send them in……….send them in whenever you like, each month I’ll pick a favorite and send something to the winner. My office might even use the photo on our website! How about a “then and now” contest! Take a photo of your group at the same spot the old photo was made and send them both in!
“buckle up, slow down and get there in one piece”
