Perry County cleaning up after flashing flood
Posted: 6:00 PM - Heavy rains caused major problems in the Perry County community of Big Creek, after flash flooding swept away cars and flooded an elementary school.
Gosh where do I start? There is the Kentucky Bluegrass music history. Our Bill Monroe invented Bluegrass and named it for his home state! We are so proud of Dwight Yoakum, Ricky Skaggs, Patty Loveless, Montgomery-Gentry, John M. Montgomery, Loretta Lynn, The Judds, Lionel Hampton, Larnell Harris, Brian Littrell, Boots Randolph, Mary Travers, Kevin Richardson, The Everly Brothers, Billy Ray Cyrus and so many more! Truly, I can’t mention everyone, but feel free to shout out your favorites that I didn’t include because of space restraints in the comment area.
Many other states have a list of talent that they’re proud of too, but Kentucky’s homegrown talent is what makes it special, Tennessee and other states have list’s that are terrific but many they claim are not from the Volunteer state, they just live there now! I am not bringing this up to start a border war (we’ll leave that up to Billy G. and Bruce Pearl) but I am trying to illustrate to you guys just how many important music folks come from here. Kentucky currently has bass players, drummers, piano players and guitarist for some of the hottest acts in all kinds of music from classical to hard rock!
I travel all across the Country promoting Kentucky’s various iconic stereotypes. (the positive ones I mean; while also dispelling the negative ones as mostly untrue) Bourbon, Bluegrass Music, Horse Racing, Hospitality and landscape are what we are known for around the nation and the world really. Lets all focus on some music stuff this winter. It’s cold outside and what could be as nice as a great concert and dinner.
Legends Loretta Lynn, George Jones and others will be performing this year at Renfro Valley! Pikeville’s East Ky. Expo center is a great venue too………….don’t forget about other house’s such as Brock Auditorium, Ky. Center, Norton Center and others………..
Add your musical items to the list by putting them in the comments area. Travel Kentucky’s music trail!
