Beverage group: 18 mayors wrong on sugary drinks
Posted: 06/18/2013 - The American Beverage Association says efforts by the mayors of 18 cities to stop food stamps from being used to buy sugary drinks won't make the nation healthier.
I took a visit to Carter Caves state resort park and to Natural Bridge SRP this past weekend! What weather!! I arrived at the parks and they were covered in snow. I left Sunday and the golf course and grounds looked like spring. Great people at both parks. So nice! Rates are low and there is ample availability too! Check the state parks website out at www.parks.ky.gov
This week the state will be featured twice on national television. I’ve been working with Producer’s of ABC’s 20/20 and CBS’s Sunday Morning recently to provide factual information and beautiful video footage for their segments. First, Friday 10pm, Diane Sawyer will be focusing on Bell County and how the folks in and around Pine Mountain are coping with the economic crisis on 20/20. Yes, I know you’re thinking here goes another stereotyped profile of Eastern Kentucky! The producers tell me it’s a bit like that but more of a positive and uplifting piece than anything. I gave them great footage of the area, let’s hope they use it and it’s terrific!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Secondly, Mo Rocca, the crazy, funny and very intelligent correspondent for Charles Osgood On CBS’s Sunday Morning will have his recently produced segment air this Sunday. Centered at the Thomas Clark Center for Kentucky History, this segment will show school children, adults and Lincoln enthusiasts’ enjoying Mo’s company and showing him some Kentucky hospitality! I know for a fact this piece will be great and very positive.
State Parks and other overnight opportunity venues have great Valentines packages available. Equus Run Vineyards is again hosting its Kisses and Calories event. This Saturday you can enjoy red wines from Kentucky, great appetizers and chocolate at the vineyard for, get this, 5.00 per person. Now even the cheapest of the cheap can entertain their sweet for that! Write in and let me and the other peeps on here know what your favorite place to go to for a Kentucky valentine is! A great hotel, vineyard, B&B, restaurant or scenic overlook? Whatever you have in mind! We’d all be interested in knowing what other’s do!
