Perry County cleaning up after flashing flood
Posted: 6:00 PM - Heavy rains caused major problems in the Perry County community of Big Creek, after flash flooding swept away cars and flooded an elementary school.
As we all know the Kentucky Derby will take to the dirt May, 2. I wonder if the party’s the night before will be as big and hyped as usual? The Oscar events looked a little smaller this year! Lots of people go to Keeneland for the Derby to horse and people watch don’t they…….. I may make plans for that myself this year! We’ll still have a derby breakfast in Frankfort this year but, it may be a little different not sure yet.
The Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games are in good shape. Jamie Link, the CEO tells me that sponsors, advanced tickets and the grounds of the Horse Park are on target for the Fall of 2010 games! Hooray! Make sure you educate yourself on all that the games involve starting NOW! I didn’t know what all to expect until just a couple of months ago……….This isn’t Horse Racing folks! It’s very cool! But there’s no Win, Place or Show betting...but eight distinctive event competitions.
This week we celebrate Mardi Gras’ Fat Tuesday! Leave it to Kentuckians to make a party out of a New Orleans event! Lots of restaurants will be hosting parties and fun events. Grab some beads……….but stay out of trouble! Ha ha. I have some UK Big Blue Beads some place, guess I’ll look for ‘em.
Oh Boone Tavern where have you gone? I need some SPOONBREAD now! Actually, the fabulous Boone Tavern Hotel and Dining room is closed for a major remodel. The Tavern will re-open in March. I can’t wait. Berea makes for a really nice Saturday. I really don’t appreciate shopping I guess……..but, I’ll take one for the team on that just so I can enjoy a really nice late afternoon Saturday lunch at BT! If you haven’t been for a awhile go when they re-open!
As always, send in your comments, pictures and ideas of what else is cool to do. I will be checking the posts here a few times a day!
