Posted: 8:45 AM My past weekend was filled with many different emotions. First I was called about the passing of a close radio friend in Louisville. Francene; heard each day on WHAS was a real friend that will be missed by many. I did visit a few places while I was in Louisville briefly on Saturday.
Posted: 9:06 AM This time of year we really try hard over here to keep the travelling public informed about the different, unique and sometimes forgotten attractions and destinations in the Commonwealth! Now that we are (have been) in the “snow go” school reporting phase for a while, let’s not forget about cool things to do when the kiddos are out of school on a snowy day.
Posted: 9:29 AM Hey gang! It’s been a couple of weeks since we spoke, hope things were great for you and great for your family! I enjoyed getting some stuff done around the house; splitting firewood, getting college apps filled out for the oldest son, eating too much and having a few cocktails. Really, it was enjoyable!
Posted: 9:32 AM This past weekend I “gots lots” of my Holiday purchases made. Quickly, I will tell you guys I bought; Kentucky wines, Bourbon balls, BBQ sauce and a tie made from some kind of Kentucky grown fiber.
Posted: 9:05 AM Yes your calendar is right this is the second week of December! I wanna talk gift giving and using Kentucky’s tourism industry as focal point.
Posted: 1:26 PM I’ll be honest I really didn’t do much travelling this past week or weekend. I visited mom in Richmond on Thursday, she fixed a tremendous spread and a huge time was had by all! Just brings back so many good childhood memories.
Posted: 9:59 AM Last week served up many great Christmas events in the Bluegrass. Frankfort hosted their Candlelight Tours, lots of community happenings in Eastern Kentucky and the Somerset area too! Way to go if you visited any of those like I did!
Posted: 8:53 AM The Breeders Cup, although not in Kentucky this year was a success, it’ll be here next here, Hooray! Frankfort’s Annual Candlelight Tours begin this Thursday and continue through the weekend. The State’s Arsenal Museum is reopening just in time for Veteran’s Day celebrations!
Posted: 8:42 AM This past weekend we experienced some rain, but the latter part of the weekend was terrific! Trick or Treating was fun, not much tricking though; just fun with friends and good food! Wasn’t Saturday great 4 U too?
Posted: 8:52 AM I think this weekend kicks off the holidays in a big way! Of course there is football but there is a bunch of Halloween 5k run/walk events all across the Bluegrass! Great one in Frankfort! Halloween corn fields, festivals and other events really can entertain the family for little money and impress the out of towners too!
Posted: 11:49 AM I stopped over at Keeneland on Saturday! Great day was had! Yes, a little chilly but hey its Fall. Thanks to Julie at Keeneland for telling me that Charlize Theron was on the property, but NO she couldn’t introduce me! Dang It! Natural Bridge was buzzing this past weekend as was Jenny Wiley State Resort Park!
Posted: 10:33 AM Pretty good weekend we had this past don’t ‘ya think? Weather held off and then Sunday was great!!!!!!!!! The fall festivals are in full swing, the leaves are changing and the State Parks are filling up!
Posted: 9:34 AM Well, it rained, and it rained and the, Saturday afternoon it stopped in most of Central Kentucky just in time to get a few things done! UK’s game was terrible, but socially it was fun I guess!
Posted: 10:23 AM Great weekend! I got into lot’s of stuff this past weekend….saw lots of friends that I haven’t seen for months, watched a game or two, had some Ky. Bourbon Ale and more cool things! Friday kicks off ONE YEAR to the opening of The World Equestrian Games in 2010!
Posted: 9:05 AM Ranked as one of the best “Unique” festivals in the entire Country, the Kentucky Bourbon Festival gets kicking this week! I am heading to the “let’s talk Bourbon’ event on Friday morning, and then to the press party Friday afternoon.
Posted: 8:37 AM What a terrific Labor Day Weekend! The weather was grand (mostly) and people were out in droves! I spent my birthday in Northern Kentucky; Attended the UK game and wow I was so impressed with the huge crowd.
Posted: 10:29 AM Where shall I start? Labor Day Weekend! My birthday (Saturday), UK-Miami in Cincinnati, The Lake geezzzzzzzzzzzzz! Here’s what I have planned. Above all, I’m going to be safe in my travels, you should too!
Posted: 8:50 AM The Kentucky State fair continues this week, actually it runs through Sunday to be exact! This past weekend may have set an all time record for opening weekend attendance at the fair. Preliminary estimates for Friday and Saturday look like huge numbers for the fair! Good news for the States economy!
Posted: 9:11 AM We all have state fair memories and honestly some of those memories may be not be all that positive! Ha Ha. Like the time me and my fraternity brothers went to see Hank Williams and Willie Nelson in 1984 WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s all I can say! Surely people aren’t still acting those buddy’s of mine any more are they?
Posted: 8:32 AM Strange headline I know. However, a radio personality asked me which upcoming event was cool to talk about and visit that only Kentucky could claim? After I thought about it for a minute I said this weekend’s DUNCAN HINES Festival!
Updated: 9:01 AM The World’s Longest Yard Sale kicks off officially this Thursday, but it will be up and running by Tuesday I am sure………..early birds………..gotta love ‘em! The US 127 yard sale begins in Northern Kentucky and ends in Gadsden, Alabama.
Posted: 10:05 AM Man, this past weekend was great….sure we had a little rain but all in all it was terrific! As I mentioned last week, my family had a big reunion and it turned out perfect. Thanks again to all that travelled into Kentucky for the big event.
Updated: 10:46 AM Just the other day when I got off of a radio show in Louisville the host was complaining about the hot weather. I about smacked him….lol. It was only a couple of months ago that he was saying he couldn’t wait for hot weather! My point is; let’s enjoy the hot scorching temps and find a lake, pool, pond or whatever if we need to cool off.
