Updated: 10:46 AM Just the other day when I got off of a radio show in Louisville the host was complaining about the hot weather. I about smacked him….lol. It was only a couple of months ago that he was saying he couldn’t wait for hot weather! My point is; let’s enjoy the hot scorching temps and find a lake, pool, pond or whatever if we need to cool off.
Posted: 10:56 AM What a shame the 4th ended up being nasty. Kinda chilly, wet and well, just bad! You may have been out in it, hopefully everyone was able to make the most of the poor conditions and enjoy themselves! I played golf on Friday- went to a cookout on Saturday and had a little fun on Sunday too!
Updated: 2:25 PM We are officially in the midst of the Summer season! I love it all; grilling, the lake, golf, swimming and all that goes with the hot sun and late evenings! As we are visiting this week, oh, by the way I’ll be doing my monthly noon show appearance on Wednesday, tune in to WKYT for the 12-1pm noon news! Back to us; be ready to give me some ideas for July 4th events that you know of that need some publicity!
Posted: 10:58 AM I hope all you dad’s had a great Father’s day! I sure did! Brenden and Dillon “allowed” me to buy them a great lunch in Lexington and then some clothes. I’m so lucky to have two cool dudes as sons!
Posted: 9:00 AM First, I want to tell you what a great Saturday I had over in Danville at The Great American Brass Band Festival. I drove over Saturday around 1pm and stayed for a couple of hours. Huge crowds, lots of fun, really was great to see all the out of state license plates!
Posted: 10:58 AM Last week I mentioned the Great American Brass Band festival happening this week in Danville! You’ll see brass instrument players from all over the nation and a few international’s as well in Boyle Co.
Posted: 12:16 PM Last Friday at the Horse Park there were plenty of people getting excited about the Kentucky Experience! The Kentucky Experience is the fan fare version of the upcoming 2010 ALLTECH FEI World Equestrian Games!
Posted: 11:23 AM The weather cooperated most of the weekend in Central Kentucky anyway! I had a crazy but productive week last week……and the same for the weekend I must admit! First, I’ll give you a nickel tour of what I did last week on my tour of Eastern Kentucky.
Posted: 10:48 AM This weekend the annual Mnt. Laurel Festival in Bell County happens…It will be centered in and around Pine Mnt. State Resort Park! Pretty girls, good food, golf and a homecoming of sorts I guess too!
Posted: 9:19 AM Golf as you all know, is one of my favorite things to do! I’m not as good as I wish I was, but I am enjoying it more now that I have realized I am not going to be playing on the PGA tour! Ha ha…. Golf to me is really a chance to get outside and hang with friends and get a tan.
Posted: 9:19 AM Okay, here’s what I did last week, but first; last year I remarked that derby week is the most fun time of the year, but it’s the most hectic and stressful period for me too! It starts about 10 days before the race and doesn’t let up until Monday after………….geez!
Posted: 11:20 AM It’s almost here, the Derby I mean! But, first if you are into camping, and I am! This weekend your Ky. State Parks will give you a free night when you pay for the first night. Just their way of saying thanks for camping with them………………
Posted: 10:18 AM Can you believe it’s been a year since Thunder Over Louisville and the Derby? Really, it seems like its only been maybe a few months. The nations largest annual fireworks show will kick off with the usual and outstanding air show around 3pm this Saturday!
Updated: 12:46 PM This past weekend was filled with Easter Egg rolls and hunts and kite flying events. Keeneland had a record crowd on Saturday, over 30,000 people filled the property at Keeneland race course. I was at a Blue Grass stakes day some years ago with the then record of 26,900 folks. I can’t imagine how crazy the ole track was on Saturday! Cool!
Posted: 9:15 AM I know that we’ve been talking about Spring Break for a few weeks. Some schools have their break much earlier than the rest of us. My Boys are out this week and I think that’s the case for most public schools.
Updated: 1:42 PM Winter is gone! Can you remember a longer, more destructive winter? Seems like we haven’t seen the sun and warm temps in a year or more. Golf weather, lake weather, cookout weather, campfire weather….they’re all here or, at least just around the corner!
Updated: 8:51 AM Well the cats aren’t going to the big dance but they are going to be playing at home, their old home, I am going to the game just so I can say I saw UK play in Memorial Coliseum.
Posted: 10:26 AM Man this past weekend was great……..a little windy on Sunday but, the temps and sun on Saturday couldn’t have been better for early March! Lots of golf was played and travelers were doing their thing!
Posted: 10:47 AM The Ky. State Parks are gearing up for the spring roll-out of outdoor adventures. Included in those adventures will be hiking, rock climbing, camping and well golf if you’re me! Ha ha. Sometimes my game is pretty adventurous!
Posted: 1:51 PM As we all know the Kentucky Derby will take to the dirt May, 2. I wonder if the party’s the night before will be as big and hyped as usual? The Oscar events looked a little smaller this year!
Updated: 11:52 AM I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Weekend! I spent mine with my two sons just chillin out! It was great! We did run to the sporting goods store Saturday to look at hiking and rock climbing gear! Boy is it expensive!!!!!!!!!!! But I got to thinking. You know, it’s worth it……..I mean it is your LIFE you’re putting in those harness’s and helmets!
Updated: 3:20 PM I took a visit to Carter Caves state resort park and to Natural Bridge SRP this past weekend! What weather!! I arrived at the parks and they were covered in snow. I left Sunday and the golf course and grounds looked like spring.
Updated: 10:40 AM Who’s tired of their Children?!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Ha Ha. Day after day of snow, frigid temps and ice…… Pizza, soft drinks and chips…….that’s great if a vacation but it wasn’t and still isn’t for lots of folks in Boyle and Madison counties among others! Really it was just too tough to even get outside and go to a museum or library you know? MOST WERE CLOSED TOO!
Posted: 10:41 AM Well as I write the piece for this week I sit and wonder what it felt like when I was in school and there was nothing to do on a snow day…………oh, I know why I wondered what it was like because… I never had that problem/luxury!!!!!!!!!
Updated: 12:13 PM What a week! The Bluegrass Ball in Washington in honor of the new presidential inauguration events happened Ali and Clooney and others were there. Why do I mention that?..........mainly because our Kentucky Proud products were part of the goodie bags!
