Henry Clay offensive lineman Sam Simpson will make public his college choice on Tuesday. The 6-foot-4, 290 lb. center has narrowed his choices to Virginia, Vandy, UK, Tennessee and Alabama.
Simpson, rated one of the 10-best centers in the country, by Rivals.com, says Tennessee and Alabama have pressured him to commit before February.
I guess you can read the tea leaves one of two ways: announcing early gives one of those two schools what they’re looking for. Or, Simpson is going to announce for one of the other three, to allow the Vols and Tide to move on in the recruitment of other players.
The guess here is that Simpson will sign with either Virginia or UK. Simpson’s dad, Sam, is the coach at Henry Clay, and played at UK. Simpson’s friend and former teammate, Chase Minnifield, currently plays at Virginia.
The announcement comes at 2:00 p.m. at Henry Clay High School. 27 SportsFirst will be there and have the announcement for our viewers Tuesday evening, on 27 NewsFirst.
Those are the highlights… Stay tuned.
