Three dead and one critically injured in Louisville shooting
7 mins ago - A shooting in South Louisville leaves three dead and one injured.
The UK baseball coaches are waiting on midnight.
That’s when one of their prized recruits must decide if he’s going to be a Wildcat or play pro ball. Robbie Ross, the LCA product, flew to Texas on Wednesday, where he is negotiating a contract with the Rangers.
The club is putting Ross through a series of physical examinations. Ross was drafted in the second round of the June draft and, presumably, will sign a contract if he passes his exams.
Ross must decide by Aug. 15, the major league deadline.
The good news for the Cats is top-50 players Alex Meyer and Andy Burns are on campus. Meyer is a 6-foot-7, righthanded flamethrower from Indiana, who turned down a reported $2.1 million offer from Boston to sign a contract. Meyer was drafted in the 20th round by the Red Sox.
Burns is a shortstop from Colorado, whom former coach John Cohen labeled “a program changer.” Burns and Meyer have become fast friends and it was widely believed that if one enrolled, the other would follow. It appears both will be Wildcats.
Those are the highlights… Stay tuned.
