Former Lexington Catholic outfielder and Kentucky Mr. Baseball, Ben Revere, has been turning heads at the professional level for nearly two years now.  Recently, the Beloit Snappers’ prospect was honored by Baseball America and Midwest League managers for his stellar play this season.

Revere was named the best in the MWL in four different catagories:  Best Batting Prospect, Best Strike Zone Judgement, Fastest Baserunner and Most Exciting Player.

The Richmond native has been battling back from an ankle sprain — Revere is one of the fastest players in all of professional baseball.

Revere has been on the cusp of an historic season — his batting average this year has hovered around .400.  I’m told it’s been more than 50 years since a player has hit .400 in the Midwest League.  Presently, Revere is hitting .380.

Drafted in the first round by Minnesota in 2007, Revere has been dazzling, moving from the Gulf Coast League to the MWL.  Plans were to move Revere, again, to the Twins high-A affiliate, but the Twins’ brass decided to keep him in Beloit, hoping he will continue flirting with historic numbers.

Revere currently leads the MWL in batting average and on-base percentage (.433).  He’s tied for the league lead in stolen bases with 41.

Those are the highlights… Stay tuned.
