Kudos to longtime friend Bert Browne. The Perry Central coach isn't painting Hazard red, but he's painting his football field pink.
Some of us have always said Browne was nutty, but his decision to make his team wear pink jerseys on Friday isn't. It's all for a great cause. Browne and his team are pitching in to do their part for Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The Commodores host Harlan, but the Green Dragons will be helping celebrate pink. The teams will donate $1 from each paid admission to the Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure. Afterward, Browne plans to auction several pink Perry Central jerseys, the money going to the cause.
On Thursday, Browne painted the lines on the PCC field lines pink. He plans to paint a football pink, too, use it for the opening kickoff, then sell it to the highest bidder.
The coach said he got the idea after talking to friends, including one inspirational teacher who's a breast cancer survivor.
Who says football coaches don't have a heart?
Those are the highlights... Stay tuned.
