The Harlem Globetrotters are in Lexington this weekend, but for UK fans wanting to watch a former Wildcat, you may have to wait until next year.

The Trotters, now in their 82nd year, have played Rupp Arena seemingly every year since the building was opened in 1976.  For just the second time ever, the Magicians of Basketball include a former Wildcat.  Big man Shagari Alleyne, who was recruited out of New York by then coach Tubby Smith, is the second-tallest to ever play for the Trotters.  According to the Globetrotters, at 7-foot-3, Alleyne is second only to Houston's Yao Ming, as the tallest pro player currently in the U.S.

Several years ago, Wayne Turner became the first former Wildcat to suit up for the world's most famous team.

Alleyne has been dubbed "Skyscraper" by the Globetrotters, but won't be in Lexington when the team plays on Saturday.  I called  the team's corporate office in Phoenix to schedule an interview for the former Cat, but was told Shagari was with the Trotters' second team in Oakland this weekend.

Even without Skyscraper, the Harlem Globetrotters are still as much fun as they were when Meadowlark Lemon and Curly Neal were making us laugh.  Get out to Rupp and enjoy the show.

Those are the highlights... Stay tuned.
