Snakes smuggled on planes
31 mins ago - An East Texas man has pleaded guilty to smuggling snakes on several planes from South America to the United States.
For basketball players at the high school and college level, reaching the 1,000 point plateau is considered a career achievement. It doesn't happen often, but when someone racks up that many points, it's usually a result of being a consistent scorer, night in and night out.
Georgetown College has a long history of great hoops success. Both the men's and women's programs are NAIA powers, seemingly every year, so it would come as no surprise that recently, the school would welcome two new members into the 1,000 Point Club.
In the Lady Tigers' win over Pikeville last week, Jayme Gilbert and Ashley Bell scored their 1,000th points -- on the same night. Gilbert, a junior from Manchester, nailed a three-pointer in the first half to achieve the milestone.
Bell, who played at Wayne Co., scored her 1,000th point in the second half. The senior connected on a three-pointer, helping lead Georgetown to a 91-56 win over the Lady Bears.
Currently, Georgetown is 13-9 overall, 2-2 in the Mid-South.
Incidentally, Bell is a former WKYT intern, so we're very proud of her accomplishment. Way to go, ladies.
Those are the highlights... Stay tuned.
