Scott Co. coach Billy Hicks was in Hindman on Tuesday, "looking around," as he put it. Sources tell 27 SportsFirst that Knott Co. Central had offered Hicks their vacant basketball coaching position. The same sources said Hicks told the school he needed a few days to mull the decision.
Hicks tells Kentucky.com that he has no intentions of leaving Scott Co. The coach says the story took on a life of its own.
With Hicks back on the sidelines, Scott Co. should be an overwhelming favorite to take home its third state championship next season. The Cardinals return Chad Jackson, Dakotah Euton and Ge-lawn Guyn, giving Scott Co. three of the state's top players.
Hicks, who is from Evarts, also coached at Cawood and Corbin. He said he'd love to end his career coaching again in the mountains.
Those are the highlights... Stay tuned.
