When he took over for Billy Gillispie as UK's basketball coach, John Calipari made the comment the Wildcat roster more resembled Rich Brook's squad, noting 20 players "looked like a football team." Calipari promised he wouldn't keep six walk-ons, as his predecessor did. On Thursday, 27 SportsFirst learned that three more walk-ons would be leaving the UK team, leaving only Mark Krebs as the only non-scholarship Wildcat.

When he took over for Billy Gillispie as UK's basketball coach, John Calipari made the comment the Wildcat roster more resembled Rich Brook's squad, noting 20 players "looked like a football team."

Calipari promised he wouldn't keep six walk-ons, as his predecessor did.  On Thursday, 27 SportsFirst learned that three more walk-ons would be leaving the UK team, leaving only Mark Krebs as the only non-scholarship Wildcat.

Adam Delph, Dwight Perry and Matt Scherbenske won't return next season, joining Buddy Halsell and Landon Slone, as walk-ons who have left the Wildcat program since last season ended.

Perry and Scherbenski are seniors; Delph is a sophomore.

Their departure means a dozen Cats have left the program since Gillispie was fired in March.  Jodie Meeks left for the NBA, while Michael Porter passed up his senior season.  Jared Carter, Kevin Galloway, Matt Pilgrim, A.J. Stewart and Donald Williams all opted not to return after discussing their Wildcat future with Calipari.

Slone transferred to Morehead State.

Those are the highlights... Stay tuned.
